This edible wrapping sheet is made entirely from kabocha pumpkin and kanten (agar) with no artificial seasonings or additives. To create the wrap, the company sources “ugly” vegetables unsuitable for commercial sale, directly from farmers. This helps reduce food waste and aligns with SDGs12, one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations. Not only is it ecologically friendly, it’s nutritious as well. This kabocha pumpkin wrap contains even 13 times more fiber, 39 times more vitamin A, and 40 times more beta carotene by weight than fresh kabocha. Also, though vegetables are perishable, this wrap isn’t and can last for months. You can use it for sandwich wraps, sushi rolls, spring rolls, and summer rolls. You can snack on it as is, too.
Spray water lightly over the wrap to moisten it before using. Once it softens, you can use it for sushi rolls, spring rolls, or sandwich wraps. In addition to making rolls and wrapping food, you can also fold it into a cup or box shape to be used as a food casing. If you add more water, it will take on a gel-like consistency and can then be made into kabocha jelly for decoration or even kabocha soup!
