Japan is well known for plenty of condiments and ingredients that add levels of flavor to a variety of dishes. One of these ingredients is Katsuobushi, which you will likely want to make a staple in your pantry once you enjoy it with other foods. Thinly Shaved Katsuobushi, called Kezuribushi, is an umami-rich topping for a number of Japanese dishes. This specially made katsuobushi is produced from high-quality bonito fish and exhibit a deep and refined savory taste. This particular brand of katsuobushi has been shaved into thinner and smaller flakes than many other regular katsuobushi products, helping to further spread the smoky aroma and rich flavor. These specially shaved thin and small flakes exhibit smooth texture that goes well with any dish where the distinctive savory flavor is desired.

**Packaging may vary from image shown.**

1. In a large pot, boil 4-5 cups of water.
2. Turn off the heat, add a bag (1.05 oz) of this katsuobushi and bring water to a boil again.
3. Skim off the foam from the soup if necessary.

You can also use these flakes as main ingredients to make your own dashi soup stock. Additionally, you can also enjoy its direct taste when you use it as a versatile garnish, such as for cold tofu, salad, and okonomiyaki. Additionally, mixing the katsuobushi with soy sauce and mayo can make the katsuobushi a savory filling bomb for onigiri (rice ball) or topping for rice dishes.

Appetizers!

A friend of mine tried this as a sample at a Japanese supermarket- they mixed it with cream cheese and made it like a dip, spread it on crackers (Ritz). Omg! It was so delish!! Smoky and soooo good!!!

Good quality!

I love to eat Katsuobushi putting on top of nice Japanese rice with soy sauce. When I can’t use it all, I put it in the freezer and use it again but usually it becomes fishy. This one was still fresh after an couple of days! Yes it was just right size as description say.
